Field Trip – La Crêperie!

Le Club de Français is going to La Crêperie! We would like to invite students to join us at La Crêperie for a fun-filled French meal! We will meet at La Crêperie on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. This excursion will offer students the opportunity to taste some authentic French food in a very French environment. Crêpes come from Bretagne, a region in northern France, but are enjoyed throughout the country. Many consider crêpes to be a national French food (along with cheese, bread and wine, bien sûr!). We will order our food in French as well as try to spend the entire meal en français to add to the experience! On doit utiliser le français dehors la salle de classe!
La Crêperie is located near the intersection of Clark/Broadway/Diversey in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. The restaurant is easily accessible by public transportation (busses and Red/Brown Lines). For $17 (including tax+tip), students will choose an appetizer, crêpe entrée, dessert and beverage. Students are required to provide their own transportation to/from the restaurant. Our reservation is at 1:00 p.m. and we’ll be done around 3:00 p.m.
Please return this permission slip and payment no later than Friday, March 30. All food orders must be selected ahead of time (see slip below) and cannot be changed the day of the reservation. All money may be turned in to Mme. Sigman or Mlle. Hanafi in the main office. Remember to get a receipt when you pay! Please note that this field trip takes place during the week of Spring Break, so students will not miss any classes. Transportation is not provided by ChiArts. Students must provide their own transportation to/from La Crêperie.

Field Trip – Christkindlmarket!

The French Club is taking its first field trip to the Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza! This excursion will offer students the opportunity to experience a market very much like they have in France. In French Club, we will learn about the history of the German Christmas market and its movement throughout Europe. We will also talk about the region of Alsace, which used to be a German territory. Each November/December in towns all over France, known as Marché de Noel, spring up to offer residents wonderful food, crafts and entertainment. The Christkindlmarkt Chicago is very much like the holiday markets all over France and students will have an opportunity to sample many of the authentic foods and drinks offered at these French markets during the holidays.

- 5:00-7:00 p.m.
- ChiArts will provide transportation to the market.
- Students must provide their own transportation home.
The Christkindlmarkt is located in the heart of downtown Chicago in Daley Plaza. Daley Plaza is close to every major train line and bus in the city.

Today in French Club we played Bananagrams! All the students in levels 1-3 were so successful in making many words in their second language! Bravo!!

Venons voir un film!
Le Club de Français is going to see Dernière étage, gauche gauche as part of the 2011 Chicago International Film Festival! Please join us for a great cultural experience and put your French skills to the test!
Here’s the details:
- What: See the film Dernière étage, gauche gauche, 2011 Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or winner
- When: Sunday, October 9, 2011 (no school October 10)
- Time: Meet 4:45 p.m. (movie at 5:30 p.m.)
- Where: AMC River East 21 http://www.amctheatres.com/rivereast/
- Pickup: 8:00 p.m.
- Parking: $10-$15, public lots
